There are two types of acne:

Non-inflammatory acne

Microcomedones become non-inflamed skin blemishes called comedones--either a whitehead or a blackhead:

Whitehead

whitehead

When the trapped sebum and bacteria stay below the skin surface, a whitehead is formed. Whiteheads may show up as tiny white spots, or they may be so small that they are invisible to the naked eye.

whitehead

Blackhead

blackhead

A blackhead occurs when the pore opens to the surface, and the sebum, which contains the skin pigment melanin, oxidizes and turns a brown/black color. It is not dirt and can not be washed away. Blackheads can last for a long time because the contents very slowly drain to the surface.

blackhead

A blackhead or whitehead can release its contents to the surface and heal. Or, the follicle wall can rupture and inflammatory acne can ensue (see below). This rupture can be caused by random occurrence or by picking or touching the skin. This is why it is important to leave acne prone skin relatively untouched.

Inflammatory acne

Papule

papule

A papule occurs when there is a break in the follicular wall. White blood cells rush in and the pore becomes inflamed.

papule

Pustule

pustule

A pustule forms several days later when white blood cells make their way to the surface of the skin. This is what people usually refer to as a ';zit'; or a ';pimple';.

pustule

An inflamed lesion can sometimes completely collapse or explode, severely inflaming the surrounding skin, and sometimes engulfing neighboring follicles. These lesions are called nodules or cysts:

Nodule

nodule

When a follicle breaks along the bottom, total collapse can occur, causing a large, inflamed bump that can be sore to the touch.

Cyst

cyst

Sometimes a severe inflammatory reaction can result in very large pus filled lesions.

Milia

milia

Milia are tiny white bumps that occur when normally sloughed skin cells get trapped in small pockets on the surface of the skin. They are common in newborns across the nose and upper cheeks and can also be seen on adult skin. The bumps disappear as the surface is worn away and the dead skin is sloughed. In newborns, the bumps usually disappear within the first few weeks of life. However, for adults milia may persist indefinitely.

Treatment is usually not indicated in children. Adults can have them removed by a physician for cosmetic improvement.

Try taking a shower everyday and using scrub then when your face dries use sope
I used to have a real bad acne problem, well if you can't go to the dermatologist (best choice) let me give you some advices... if you want to see changes you must be patient and have discipline...

1. don't scratch your face, don't try to remove them by yourself (this will only leave scars and more pimples).

2. Get a skin cleaner gel, neutrogena, eucerin, clean %26amp; clear have good products.

3. Wear an oill Free sun protector.

4. Pay attention this is the most effective natural way to get rid of acne but my poor colombian english won't help...

A) Go to an art store, or even on a common store get clay (mudusuallyy it comes on a bag keep it inside.

B) getpaper cuppput some water inside and get some of the clay and put it inside this will make it more manageable, then put all around your face until you end up like this woman on the picture http://www.hiltonpond.org/images/CRSandraMudFace01.jpg

C)Let it get dry don't touch it when its dry, wash it whit a lot of cold water, at first do it twice a day this is the best thing on the world!!!!!! Good luck
Ok first of all it won't just go away like THAT we all have acne so son't worru it is a part of growing up.

To get rid of it...

1. use lemon juice.

2. mick salt with water and wash your face with it.

3. I SWEAR BY THIS METHOD IT WORKS THE OTHER TWO I HAVE NEVER TRIED.

and it is cinnamon mixed with honey leave it on for 15/20 minutes it may be itchy use it as a paste.

ps I have also heard of toothpaste like the paste not gel for a puss pimple hope it helps.
If you have tried all the products and they just dont seem to work, go see a dermatologist. They will prescribe you medicine that will defianatly help your skin acne. I hope i could help love =)
Well first of all do NOT try any '; Proactive Solution'; or any of those products because they make ur skin greasy and oily. They can cover your pours and not let them breath, making you have even MORE acne! So the best solution is to go to a Dermatologist ( they specialize in the skin! ) I've gone to my dermatologist alot and helps me with any of my skin problems and gets them of RIGHT AWAY!!! And if it makes you feel any better, though you might have to travel a little my Dr. is

Dr. Goya he is in Aurora IL. I live NO WHERE NEAR HIM!!! But its worth the long trip because he is really good!!!
Try Skin id. Heard it works great. Other than that, good diet with plenty of fruits can help....also, drink a lot of water. It actually helped for me. You can go to a dermatologist, and they can give you tons of stuff that can help you. I am taking these prescribed pills right now, and they work GREAT. Good luck, i know its not fun. =]
